Things that I miss...

Bedding 30/08/2011: (Warning Rant!)

I really would like to be able to go and buy a Queen sized duvet, a Queen sized duvet cover, pillow cases included at a normal pillow size (I looked it up and it's 48 x 73 cm) and Queen sized sheets that come in a pack with a fitted sheet, a flat sheet (oh good god, has anyone here EVER heard of a flat sheet???!?) and -again- with pillow cases included.

Can I? No! It's terribly distressing.

The bed sizes are in centimeters and they CHANGE BETWEEN BRANDS!!! What?! Yes! In one place you can buy duvets that are 150 x 200 cm, and then head on over to a different shop and they come in 155 x 200 ?!?! Hasn't this place ever heard of standardisation?!?!
Then I'm told that the biggest size you can buy a duvet in is 15(5/0) x 200... This doesn't even fit a queen sized bed (mattress size of a Queen being 150 x 200) - which means no overhang, hello?!?
Don't even get me started on the 2 mattresses one bed situation. Thank goodness we don't have one of those, I think I'd move straight back to NZ! Imagine rolling over and falling down the crack all the time!

Now, back to the way too small duvets. Not only does all it take but one person rolling over once and the other loses all cover, but that's the ONLY cover you have, as they haven't got flat (top) sheets!!!

Much to my delight the wonderful IKEA has got a larger sized duvet, but at 220 x 240 (btw, a "normal" sized Queen duvet measures 210 x 210 THROUGHOUT NZ... possibly throughout the British empire(?)) it's going to look absolutely ridiculously over-sized on our mattress.

Oh what I would give right now to have my *normal)* Queen sized sheet set (fitted sheet with 40cm drop, flat sheet measuring 245 x 270, 2 x pillowcases at 73 x 48cm) and my Queen sized duvet cover with matching pillowcases delivered here. Oh what the heck, lets just get the whole bed sent over!
*tear* I miss you my wonderful amazing, no foot rest, thick *best-mattress-in-the-world* bed (+ bedding)
